He has over 50,000 lenses for contact lens diagnostic fitting. He takes care of more patients with Keratoconus than almost any doctor in the United States. Below is a brief description of may of the contact lenses that are available in our office.
Soft Contact Lenses
Soft lenses are the most common contact lens available in the United States. They are available in annual, quarterly, monthly, biweekly, and daily replacement modalities. They can be made in spherical, astigmatic, or in a bifocal design. They are available in many different water contents and silicone configurations.
Rigid Contact Lenses (Gas Permeable Lenses)
Gas permeable lenses are made of from rigid materials that allow for the flow of oxygen from the atmosphere through the contact lens and on to the cornea. We now have the ability to produce these gas permeable lenses with higher oxygen transmission and increased wettability. These lenses can be made in almost any size, prescription or geometric surface design. Gas permeable lenses are available in single vision, bifocal, trifocal and now in progressive lens designs.
Hybrid Contact Lenses
These lenses have a gas permeable rigid center with a soft peripheral skirt. These lenses can give you the clarity of a gas permeable lens with the initial comfort of a soft lens.
